Save Money Re-Sanding
Save money re-sanding
At Cleaning Worx we carry out many driveway pressure cleans, as part of this service we offer re-sanding and sealing extras, but some customers only want the pressure washing, usually because this saves money and time. Although it doesn’t in the long term, yes it’s a quick fix to a tired looking drive but far too soon weeds start to grow through or brick work starts to shift creating either more work, expense and usually both.
This post from our friends at thinkupgarden sums it up perfectly
Re-sanding and sealing block paving go hand in hand. If you get this process correct, you’re going to protect your block paving for the next 2 to 3 years in terms of stability and appearance until it’s time to re-sand and seal again.
However, if you don’t do it properly, chances are it’ll need to be re-sanded and re-sealed much before the time than it should. Also, the harm it’s going to do to the block paving in that time frame is different. Hence, the proper care of the investment that you’ve made in the form of block paving is crucial for its longevity.
We totally agree with their post, and we inform our customers of these facts, the least important but greatest improvement is the look. Here’s a before and after sanded drive on a pressure washing clean we carried out
I’m sure you’ll agree it’s far more appealing visually.
We use Kiln Dried Sand, which is completely dry and therefore does its job of filling in the gaps and stops the bricks from moving
Sealing
We use a Resin-Block Sealing process which not only creates a great look, but the seal will help protect your drive from staining and help prevent germination from weeds and resist algae and mould from taking hold.
There are drives which require sealing due to a heavy slope, if like myself you have a drive that slopes quite heavily, you’ll notice that sand can shift over time especially after heavy rainfall and will build up at the bottom which apart from looking messy it can actually stop protecting the brickwork at the top.
As part of our quotation, we usually provide a link of all the products we use and recommend, giving our customers the option to buy these themselves and carry out the work themselves which suits some budgets, but it also promotes our work as the finished drive looks so much better once sanded and sealed.
